A strange and violent day yesterday, with screaming winds and a lot of lifts not moving.
Akakura Onsen was going to open on a shortened basis, but finally gave up. Most of the other resorts on Mt. Myoko also had limited lifts going.
But today the sun is out, the snow is not falling and it seems like we’re mostly back to normal operations. One big one to watch is the Champion No. 3 lift at Akakan, which is the one that brings people back from the Akakura Onsen side, which is currently shown as not running. You can get from Onsen to Akakura on foot, of course, but just be aware of this if you’re skiing both resorts today!
