Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 33cm
Snowfall at base this season 997cm

Posted on Wednesday 13th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Snow again!

A pretty good depth of very heavy snow (there's moisture in there, as well as lots of graupel, or soft hail). Still, it's nice to see winter finally arrive, even if it is at the end of the season. And even if it's going to get very sunny and spring like in the coming days. All part of that rich tapestry that is nature (although with a pretty mind-blowing pattern this year!)

Not too much wind at the moment, although high winds were predicted. Watch for lift closures if it does start to blow.
