Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 1308cm

Posted on Monday 12th March 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Surprise again, as we got just under an inch of snow (more little graupel, or soft hail pellets). It’s always nice to have everything a little more pristine and white, even if fresh snow is kind of a pain if you’re going off into the woods (powder or settled snow, I say).

The snow will have a good chance to settle in the coming days, though, as the freezing level once again rises above the peak of Mt. Myoko and we get sun, sun, sun. Actually looking forward to a little genuine corn snow off in the hills - as long as spring conditions are here, we might as well enjoy them!
