Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this season 1403cm

Posted on Friday 10th March 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The official snow report from Niigata has regained our trust and support today. It predicted 15cm, and as of earlier this morning there was 13cm and still falling (so I'm going to say 15cm, just to acknowledge them). It is nice snow, too: fluffy big flakes falling very nicely.

Just got a radio call from the top of the mountain, where it sounds even better.

Probably want to keep an eye out for sluffing if the snow continues to fall at a heavy rate.

On-piste it should be great today. Wish I wasn't stuck at the desk....
