Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 36cm
Snowfall at base this season 338cm

Posted on Tuesday 10th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Getting an early start on a snowy Tuesday.

It was pretty warm yesterday, with some rain in the late afternoon/early evening so it was great to see it change over to a pretty steady fall of snow. We had 36cm when I measured earlier, and it keeps on falling so I think we'll break 40cm pretty easily. Colder today, but it is heavy, wet snow. It was windy during the night, but it's fairly quiet now, with a light wind from the north coming in. One good rumble of thunder very early in the morning (some of us have to get up early to move snow!) which is always interesting and a sign of heavy snowfall.

No big rant for you today, but some rather stale resort info from some of our locations....
