Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this season 302cm
Posted on Sunday 8th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
It's snowing, but milder today with the temperature up several degrees from yesterday. Really nice snowflaky flakes, too: six-armed, kind of rounded and very sticky. It packs perfectly (attention snowball fight fans).
Hope it snows a lot; we need a good base to be ready for a week from now, when we could get very warm days and (ugh) rain. The forecast has a couple of huge high-pressure cells sitting out in the Pacific, bringing warm winds across most of Japan. So we all suffer together. Or maybe not; weather does change, right?
