Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 60cm
Snowfall at base this season 398cm

Posted on Friday 10th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Winter has finally officially hit, with a great big snowfall and colder temperatures (like I told many people earlier in the season, when it comes, it really comes here).

At least 60cm has fallen since yesterday, and probably even more - considering the conditions as we used the once-trusty snowthrower, which has decided to overheat now that it is really needed.

The snowfall tapered off a little this morning, but with luck the heavy dumping will pick up again soon.
