Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 85cm

Good morning from Hakuba.

I am happy to be bringing you news of fresh snowfall this Monday morning.

I have 4cm of fresh to report - been at both Goryu base and Happo base earlier on) and the ski resorts generally seem to be reporting 5-10cm of snowfall from base to upper areas this morning.

More snowfall is expected before my next report, particularly overnight, so I'll all revved up for that.

After another busy weekend it is Monday morning so there will be less people around today.

The Chinese New Year holidays are just ahead of us now with many good folk planning to be here to celebrate their holidays. It's going to be getting busier again... decent mountain-wide layers of fresh snow would be most welcome.

That's always welcome, of course!

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
