Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 259cm

Posted on Sunday 17th January 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

A snowy morning and trees on the mountains are looking nice and white, though there's a misty cloudy feel going on.

40cm is being reported by Goryu on the upper areas (via official Hakuba Valley sources) and that is more than other areas are reporting. Happo are reporting up to 30cm on their upper areas with Cortina going with 10-15cm. So it looks like the ski areas to the south got more overnight. Sounds like it might be worth investigating!

Some light snow forecast for today and the next heavier snowfall likely tomorrow night. We might get lucky and get some clear skies tomorrow morning before that snow.
