Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 100cm

Posted on Monday 27th November 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

It is a truly cold morning here in Furano at -11c. There is plenty of good to report with a further 20cm on new snow over night, clear skies and no wind. You couldn't ask for much more than that! Temperatures in the village will head up to a high of -3c. The variability in the temperatures will continue and tomorrow we will be into warm positives again and may even see a bit of rain.

The ski area is looking very good indeed with all this recent snow. Yesterday it was still only one lift on the upper mountain operating. Hopefully, with the overnight snow, the resort will be able to open up some of the courses back to base. We will have to wait and see if anything is announced today.
