Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 25cm
Snowfall at base this season 125cm

Posted on Thursday 30th November 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

After some tropical weather over the last couple of days snow cover on the ground was erased in a lot of places. Today is a total contrast to that with temperatures back into the wintery zone. It is -6c at the moment and is expected to stay that way through the day. There is 25cm of new snow in the village. It is snowing lightly and that is forecast to continue right through until the weekend. It should be an epic day on the mountain with all this fresh snow, and hopefully the resort will open up more terrain now.

Furano Zone partially open.

Kitanomine Zone closed.
