Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 80cm

Posted on Sunday 26th November 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

A bit of light snow came down early afternoon. Come evening I went for a walk and was surprised to find it snowing heavily with accumulation on the ground of 15cm. This morning I have measured 20cm of new snow at village level, so that is a really good dump that will mean epic conditions this morning on the mountain. Skies are overcast and calm but temperatures have spiked up and it is +2c right now and expected to go up to +6c. This is going to make the village pretty slushy today. Best to get out and enjoy the new snow while it is light and powdery as that is going to change as the morning rolls on.

Furano Zone partially open.

Kitanomine Zone closed.
