Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this season 399cm

Posted on Thursday 24th January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

There has been a snowstorm overnight with moderate snowfall and strong winds. On the ground there is 14cm of fresh snow in the Kitanomine village. The temperatures are quite mild at -5c and this mean the fresh snow is a lot heavier than normal. The snow has stopped for now but moderate winds are still with us and are forecast to be around until tonight. A good dump of snow like this will help reset the off piste areas that have been tracked out recently.
