Ocean11 0
I've just ordered one of these babies - I've been wanting one for years, but they went out of business. Then I found a place where you can get them for $95 + $55 shipping (surface). I'll be able to have races with myself on my Dirtsurfer and Outback.
damian 0
you are becoming a collector of all things odd and wheeled.

Wow, that would really be interesting to see! Please let me know who wins, you or you!
Ocean11 0
This hasn't gone unnoticed at home either... Yesterday, the missus remarked "You have legs - why don't you use them to go downhill?"
snowboard_freak 0
They look interesting Ocean. Let us know how it goes when you get out there. I've always wanted to try one of those mountain board things. I'm not sure what they are called. They are similar to what you are getting but they have 4 wheels. They look like fun. Ocean11 0
The thing is coming by ship so it will be a while yet, but I'll prolly be writing something about it soon. I did an article about mountainboards a while back; http://www.snowjapan.com/e/features/oceans-view-1.html Things have changed since then, and the 4-wheelers are king of the hill in terms of popularity, but I find the unconventional ones attractive (especially in this case, the price). There are some cools vids here; http://www.mountainboarders.net/~caution/video/index.htm and here; http://prx.upnorth.uk.com/lard/storage/lard%20winter%2002-03%20preview%20v0.9.mpg
snowboard_freak 0
Thanks for the link's Ocean. One thing that stands out about the Outback is the brake. Or at least it looks like a brake. It looks as though it would be easy to use.
Ocean11 0
Yeah, that's a brake. Nice to have, and reportedly easy to use and effective.
enderzero 0
I wonder how long it would take for the pressure-on-tread brake to wear down the tire to the point of replacement. Any idea?
Ocean11 0
The brake pads wear down apparently, not the tyre. You can replace the pads with any suitable material when they wear down. With skilled riding, the brake should become superfluous anyway.... (yeah, right).
