Does anyone remember roller game?

Wrestling on wheels.

It's an American stuff which was popular in early '70s on TV in Japan.

2 teams fight on wheels skating around the track.

Each team has 5 skaters skating around the track, 2 of them wear helmets which are called jammer.

1 period is just for a min. When whitsle is rang, jammers try to skate ahead, players of enemy team try not to let them go.

When jammers get one lap ahead and get ahead of players of another team, that is what they score.

So if 2 jammers in a team get one lap ahead and get ahead of all players of another team, they score 10. ( 2 jammers get ahead of 5 each ).

But players of enemy team always try not to let them go ahead any more, so it was like wrestling lol.. Sometimes deffence skaters kick/punch the jammer which seemed too violent to a kid's eyes.

Judy Sowinski, Colleen Murrel,Julie Patrick, Ronie Rains, Ralph Valadiaz , Big John Jonson etc were the pupular T-Birds skaters then.

Probably I have to hear a lot of you were not born in yet!!!!!!

Hi Manda.

Thanks, that's it.

I felt that players were really ojisans and obasans like my parents when I watched it on TV in early '70s but now I feel it kinda my sons and daughters lol....

Wonder if the teams in the 'team roster' are the same ones with teams when I saw them on TV.

Teams I remember are

LA T-Birds,

Chicago hawks,

Newyork Chiefs,

Texas outlaws,

Detroit devils,

Boltimore cats,

etc.

Are they still active?

Yeah, I remember watching it as a kid on old B&W TV.

A quick google search found this - some interesting stuff ... sorry to say it's been 'cheapened' by the current promoters - the old days were MUCH better ... real biffo and blood!

Did you know Ronie Rains married Colleen Murrel?
Both are hero/heroin in my memory.
Sorry 'G' but I wasn't into it that much. Just enjoyed watching a bunch of wild women bash the crap outta each other whilst skating at full speed around a circuit - I must admit though, I also like women mud-wrestling comps (but then who doesn't, right?) ;\)
