Strong Avie Warnings for the Weekend (14/15 Jan)

Recommended Posts

I'm just watching a report on avies on TV (don't know which station), and they are warning of the possibility of the largest destruction from avalanches in 20 years this weekend. The predicted temps for the weekend are for mid-March temperatures. They were saying that the risk of zensou avies (full layers??? sorry don't know the English terms) is going to be very high as opposed to the usual type of top layer??? (again sorry) avies. I hope everyone is overcautious and we don't hear any more stories like Tets. Any more knews on him FT??

Montoya just posted a similar warning here but localised for Kagura.

An area of about 8m*3m with 60cm depth of snow just slid off my roof before. It was fking scary I can tell you the noise it made, I thought the house was collapsing. (Again). At first it sounded like someone walking on the roof, then it got louder and louder then faster then it all fell over the side on one go. Huge pile of snow at the side now - if I had been under that lot I would have been crumpled.

There's going to be a lot of that kind of thing this weekend I presume.
