I was talking about poaching (as in the title of this thread). I would not have posted the same thing on the "backcountry avalanche" area where the conversation is more serious. Kumapix, I won't drop a load on you. I've got nothing but respect and love for mountains and snow! I've done a little winter BC (real BC --not just 'off-piste'). I'd like to do a lot more--along the lines of what a lot of you guys have been doing. I'd like to do an avi course first. But I still think that relative beginners can have a lot of fun poaching, ducking into the trees and doing the odd short hike without endangering themselves and others if they're a little sensible.
