I'm looking to make a last minute snowboarding trip out from Tokyo next week, but I'm a total noob to Japan's resorts. Does anyone have any pointers on where would be a good place to go? Looking for:

1) Ease of access from Tokyo (it's own shinkansen station, for example).

2) Somewhere to stay (for non-Japanese speakers!)

3) Need to rent snowboard + bindings.

4) Maybe somewhere with some snow... ;\)

Can anyone help with ideas, or have I left it a bit late... ;\)

I sometimes enjoy teasing non-Japanese speakers describing all in kanjis if they don't listen to me or bad behaved.

You need to give a notice beforehand if your feet are bigger than 31cms or so. Usually not easy to find ones in Japan for that big ones.

Good luck.

Although not very big, Karuizawa Prince Hotel in Nagano is also just a 10 minute walk from the shinkansen station. If you're traveling with people who don't wanna go skiing/snowboarding, they can go shopping at the nearby outlet mall while you're on the slopes.
