miteyak 0
Anyone know the law on rights of way in Japan? Are ski fields 'owned' or just the lifts on them? Important questions if you wanna expose yer middle finger (middle,index...Br.) to the ski patrol. Whilst skinning up Norikura under the lifts, following the public footpath on my map, my friend and I were shouted at by patrol, followed by a visit telling us to get outta there. I stood there with the map in the guys face asking him if he could read a map and how exactly he thought he was going to stop me exerting my legal right of access, my friend supporting me fully by demanding I stop being a pedantic ass and do as he says. (he, being on shoes not skins, preferred the idea of going up a frozen gelande rather than a powdery path, anyway). Needless to say, legal questions were left unanswered that day... but does anyone know what rights we have. If the land is government/public access land, it raises a lot of questions regarding patrol issues.
Wizz 11
Would like to know. Aren't most of the resorts just like renting off their landlords, the town and govt?
Fattwins 0
Norikura offered a real cheap lift pass last year so that people didnt climb up the mountain without paying that couldve been half the problem. Most land is leased by the govt as happens anywhere in the world.
miteyak 0
It's not always about the money, Fatwins, (actually, it's not about the money full stop.) Anyway, this was several years ago.
