damian 0
wide open space (no roads cut into the trees that are called runs). I suppose the resorts in teh Yuzawa town area would qualify in terms of time. As for wide open space, not easy to tell without a course map (not easy to find unless it is a big resort. Does anyone have any suggestions?

scouser 4
3 hours takes you well beyond Yuzawa, (you can get there in 90 minutes from Tokyo). Try some of the less well known places in Gunma too and maybe Hunter Mountain as well. This year I'm going to spread myself around, so to speak.
