Hi, will be traveling from Narita to Nozawa by Chuo taxi. Is there a problem taking my skis? I know I can use a courier service but I dont like parting with them. Total devastation if they didnt turn up next day. When booking Chuo taxi should I tell them I will have skis?

Also will catch buses from Nosawa to Happo, ok to take boot bag, another bag and skis..Another 3 weeks till I arrive wish it was this week , looks so good over there now. Cheers.

I don't know about the taxi but there's TOTALLY no worries about them not turning up. Takyubin is incredibly reliable here, a brilliant service, you can sleep well using them.

You could always email them but I'm sure Chuo Taxi will have had absolutely loads of people with board bags before. Japanese people without skis also don't travel light. Usually they buy the biggest rigid suitcase available. 5 or 6Kg of their allowance goes on the bag itself!

Chuo's a great service. I think its much better than messing about with trains with lots of gear.

Thanks guys looking at the pictures on the chuo taxi website their vans dont really look like they are set up to take skis eg roof racks. Would have to lay them in the aisle or hold onto them if the van was full maybe??? Going out to the ski areas around Nagano you would think chuo would be organise for this.

On their website it says a max of one bag and one carry on and to notify them of any special baggage requirements, maybe skis are special baggage.

You could always e-mail them but I am sure Chuo Cab cab will have had definitely lots of individuals with panel baggage before. Japoneses individuals without snowboard also don't journey mild. Usually they buy the greatest firm luggage available. 5 to 6Kg of their permitting goes on the bag itself.
