Just reading this for the UK

The most popular baby names in 2009 are for boys:

1 Oliver;

2 Jack;

3 Harry;

4 Alfie;

5 Joshua;

6 Thomas;

7 Charlie;

8 William;

9 James;

10 Daniel.

For girls:

1 Olivia;

2 Ruby;

3 Chloe;

4 Emily;

5 Sophie;

6 Jessica;

7 Grace;

8 Lily;

9 Amelia;

10 Evie

Funny a fair few of those seem "old fashioned" to me.

Perhaps just because I'm "old". Or perhaps getting on a bit!

Anyone know what the tops for Japan are?

Unlike set names that you follow as in western names, there are names in many languages that are descriptive.

"White Lily" is not a single name like Lily. It could be "fiery lily", "devine lily" etc etc. Thus names are infinte. And so too family names.

Didn't the South Korea football team field a team of about six "Lee"s?

I must say I can't imagine a bunch of chavs called Oliver, Joshua, Alfie, Olivia, Amelia, and Sophie. It sounds more like Brideshead Revisited.
