jimbloq 0
hello all i'm new to the list, so forgive the newbie question.. i'm thinking of heading to niseko for 10 days in january, either from 31 dec, or from 7th jan. being in the snow for new year could be pretty cool, but not at the expense of tracked up powder!!! does it get really busy over the christmas/new year period? jim
Fattwins 0
jan 7 the price will be cheaper.
scouser 4
It gets busy, but as the man says - cheaper prices after the New Year rush period. That's your best bet probably if you can.
jimbloq 0
sound advice eh. can't argue with cheaper and quieter i just checked on flights from tokyo to sapporo, and apparently plane ticket prices drop considerably from the 14th too for those that can wait longer... thanks for the help
nori-chan 0
And also better snow after 14th also I think.
enderzero 0
I was under the impression that last year the best snow was late Dec - mid Jan. Is that incorrect?
Goemon 0
Last year we had heaps upon heaps of powder around New Year's, but I heard that was unusual. But it was heaps, I tells ya!
Ocean11 0
I seem to remember luffing through heaps of fine powder in early December last year. But I guess that doesn't count because all those people who believe the best snow is to be had from the end of December weren't there to see it. In this case, believing is seeing. Naturally there was more snow later, but not necessarily better.
Fattwins 0
December is a good month for powder. just saying if you want to reduce your budget, dont come during the middle of the winter vacation.
LARD 0
enderzero - depends where you were. Best snow I had was in late January.
