Tubby Beaver 209
If they rent it out though with their mountain not having snow.... I'd be surprised if they stipulated that you MUST use it on their home mountain

HongKong 0
Hi Everyone, We're back from our skiing holiday. It was fun and we all enjoyed it very much. In fact, our daughter is planning her next trip already.... Here's just an update on our trip and hopefully will be of some use to people with kids travelling to Yuzawa. We stayed at NASPA New Otani from 22-26 of December. The hotel is about 5 mns bus ride from Yuzawa station. But, it will be difficult to walk with kids in tow. There wasn't much snow then and the hotel shuttled us to Kagura/Tashiro for skiing. Our package includes skiing kit but we have to get it at NASPA and bring it to the Kagura/Tashiro. Tashiro is not for the beginners as we were told by the hotel. So we decided to go to Naeba instead. You can catch a bus from Yuzawa train station (Bus no.1 at East Exit) It takes around 30-40 mns to get to Naeba. (Cost about 650yen/one way.) We love Naeba. The slope is less steep than the one at the NASPA. It's good for beginners and also for young children. We took 3 private lessons in English and both my husband and daughter learned to ski. ( Me? a bit slow... ) We rent our skiing kit at Naeba as it would be a stuggle to take them on the bus from Yuzawa. Although Naeba is in the mountains, it is very much a self contained "town". There are many shops within the hotels (resonable priced items as well.) and restaurants to choose from. In a way it's easier than NASPA as you don't have to go out and look for restaurants in the snow. We highly recommend Naeba for family with kids. Thank you all for the kind advice and have a wonderful New Year. We definately will come back to Japan soon.
SKI 15
Good to hear that. Did you get decent snow in the end? Hope you got on the beginning of the snow that let places open up there. Any photos at all?
