I stayed at Masazo last Feb. Its a nice family owned lodge. I think only breakfast is provided but I was invited to have dinner and beer/saki with the family who owned the lodge every night I was there. They have 2 sons who speak broken english and are really funny. The father also told me when I checked in that I was more than welcome to brings girls back for the night. Sadly I didn't manage that.

The lodge has it's own onsen downstairs which was cool. Pretty much it was fine for what I needed.

It's about a 5 minute walk up to the Nagasaka gondola and probably 5 minutes to the main part of town where the restaurants are too.

If you see an old lady across the road shovelling snow or chipping ice off things go and help. You'll be rewarded with half a dozen large bottles of beer!! Great after a day in Nozawa's pow.
