muikabochi 208
In the local paper today. 24 resorts in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma area of Niigata prefecture and over the New Year 410,000 people skied/snowboarded there, down 6,000 people from last year. Minamiuonuma-shi: Down 5% on last year with 102,000 people. Resorts: Naeba --- 143,000 people, ( -7% ) Kagura --- 31,000 people, ( -11% ) Joetsu Kokusai --- 32,000 people, ( +6% ) Ishiuchi Maruyama --- 30,000 people ( +3% ) It seems they are talking of New Year as being December 29th - January 3rd
tsondaboy 0
Naeba/kagura is + last year because it was the only resort with decent snow, so they had crowds more than usual. This year that more resorts are open, numbers have moved towards a more representative value.
muikabochi 208
I presume that's just what you think tsondaboy? Or do you have numbers from a period more than just new year? As I posted above, over new year period they were officially down 7% (Naeba) and 11% (Kagura) on last year.
tsondaboy 0
Sorry, I though you were posting this years numbers.
muikabochi 208
I am posting this years numbers. They are 7% and 11% DOWN on last years numbers.
tsondaboy 0
Comparing this years numbers with last years "abnormal" season wont give you a representative trend, will it? I would be more interested to see, where this years values fit in a 10 year average for example.
muikabochi 208
Well, maybe, but I was simply posting the numbers reported in the Niigata newspaper, that's all (and then pointing out to you that the numbers were down rather than up as you had suggested). tsondaboy 0
I think we both misunderstood each others post. I was also pointing out that last year kagura was abnormally up.
muikabochi 208
Oh OK. BUT - if you look at the Yuzawa reports from last season you will see that the resort opening status for December 29th was: Kagura - fully open; Naeba - mostly open; Ishichi Maruyama - mostly open; Iwappara - fully open Kandatsu - part open; GALA Yuzawa - open; Yuzawa Kogen - open; Yuzawa Park - mostly open; Joetsu Kokusai - mostly open; NASPA Ski Garden - mostly open; Kayama Captain Coast - open. That is extremely similar to what it was the same time last month. The numbers I am quoting in my initial post are for the period December 29th 07 - January 3rd 08 and so I would say that they are pretty much comparable.
SirJibAlot 0
and when Tsonda says abnormal, he obviously means 'hentai'
