skelonas 0
I'll be coming over to Sapporo mid-December. I was wondering what the best way would be to handle currency. Are there ATM's that accept visa and mastercard debit cards from the U.S.? My girlfriend had problems with this in Tokyo, so we want to make sure that we bring enough cash if ATM's aren't an option. We'll be staying for about six weeks, so we'd rather not bring a huge bundle of cash if possible. Thanks for any advice you can give!
keba 0
You will find the same problem in all of Japan. Bring cash, and use the CC when able. Travellers' checks are a bit hit and miss, too.
thursday 1
Do you have "Plus" or "Cirrus" on the back of your credit card? Have you linked your banking accounts onto your credit card so that you can withdrawn money from your bank accounts in your home country using your credit card in the ATM? If you have, don't forget your PIN. You can withdraw from your bank account through international ATMs. The Post Office has international ATMs. It's small fee like 5USD or less per withdrawal. If you bring USD and exchange at the local banks, you will get killed on the retail exchange rate.
