Does anyone know of such a thing in Japan. I mean like in the UK you can just order from Tesco's at work and when you get home (or the next day) all your stuff will be waiting for you outside your house in a special box thingy. I know the Co-op does something in Japan but everyone I know who uses it says it's very complicated with hundreds of different catalogues and delivery days and you have to know 3 weeks in advance what you are going to eat for dinner on any given night.

I just want a normal online grocery store so I can order at work and find the stuff outside my door the same or next day.

We use the Co-op home delivery. Its not as bad as you heard.

They deliver every thursday. You give them your order for the next week when they deliver your stuff. So you only have to wait exactly 7 days for it. When we didnt have a car, we just used to buy bulky heavy things we didn't want to carry from the supermarket - ie. milk, juice, canned tomatoes, beer, rice etc. Not so much thinking involved. All the little special stuff we would get from the supermarket ourselves.

To answer your question more directly, no I havent heard of an online supermarket. Supermarkets here are 30 years behind UK ones.

Strange, I thought I answered this thread on Tuesday.

Thanks guys. The flying pig is a good idea but I can't bring myself to pay the mark up when I only live 15 mins away from a Cost-co. I had the Co-op lady come round yesterday and she gave me all the catalogues and stuff. She even fed Me Mini Tarzan while I filled out all the paperwork - nice lady! Your right B12, it doesn't seem as bad as I'd heard, it's just setting it up takes a few weeks but after that it looks easy.

By the way if anyone wants a really expensive international supermarket (but which has loads of good stuff), National Azabu has a Japanese online shop at Yahoo shopping.

I don't like being ripped off and would not use one of those. I also actually like going to the supermarket to choose what I am having... it's part of the experience (hunting!) and is not something that is worth spending tons of money on to cut out.

GG, Places like National Azabu are good for specialist stuff which is really difficult to get however much hunting you do. Also nice if you are going through a "down on Japan" phase and want to treat yourself!

The co-op is really cheap, actually cheaper than my local supermarket and as you can sit down at home with the catalogue and plan what to buy it's easier to control your spending than when you are walking around a shop.

I totally know what you mean about liking the whole supermarket experience but I get home from work with Mini Me Tarzan at 7:20, bath him 7:30, milk 8:00 & he goes to bed at 8:30 so I don't have that luxury anymore.

Ito Yokado does this. You'll have to register online and everything is in Japanese, but otherwise it's simple. Good prices.
