Possible Coup in Thailand

Recommended Posts

Seems like

Military leaders in Thailand say they have overthrown the country's Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra.

Soldiers seized government offices and took up strategic positions around the capital, Bangkok. Parliament and the constitution have been suspended.

The head of the army, Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin, will assume prime ministerial powers, the army said.

I wonder if this is directly linked to the King being old/ill and the fact that his son, isnt liked by anybody. The King's daughter would make a better Queen and ruler as the people love her but the military doesnt support her.

Regardless of whatever happens, if shite goes down in Thailand, there are many countries in SE Asia that are more than willing to have their tourism industry increase im sure.

sorry i nabbed this thread with this thread . it has nothing to do with the king, of who the troops are loyal to, but everything to do with the shame democracy that Thaksin has set up despite all the best efforts of the citizens to thwart him. the military will not hold power long, and no coup in thailand, of which there have been many, has every been successful without the king's full support. you can be certain that everyone in the country will be looking to him to resolve this issue.
