Pasting an avi.file in a HTML file

Recommended Posts

How can I paste an avi. file in a HTML file?

I bought a new digitalcamera today and read a manual book for a while to take some pics. It seems that that camera can take some movie files (avi.files for Mpeg-4 format )and exactly I took one and uploaded to my hosting server to see.

It's visible but can not paste itself directly in a HTML file. If I paste a picture file e.g. a jpeg file and make a link to an avi.file, it works though.

Is there a special way for it?

When we paste picture files, a tag

IMG SRC=""

works but what if it's an avi.file?

Can not find the answer yet.

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't seem to be a standard way to do this... using a link is your best bet for visibilty with different browsers...

Another option is to encode the .avi as a quicktime movie rather (a .mov file) but you will need some software to do that for you. Then you can embed the video in your actual page.

Ah, thanks gogalago. That embed thing works.

But as the movie window in the html file gets bigger when it starts playing, maybe I had better take the former way you suggested. The link way.

Thanks for your time!
