cayote 0
Any recommendations about how a beginner can progress efficiently: - step-by-step skill building tips? - resorts with appropriate slopes? Any recommended resorts in the Yuzawa area? I went to Minakami Okutone, had a 2-hour lesson, and then side-slipped and did shallow turns over the whole course. It seemed too steep for beginners. montoya 0
Kandatsu or Iwappara in Yuzawa gets my vote for beginning boarders. Both have wide slopes, not too steep. I think both also offer lessons (albeit in Japanese). For real newbies, can't hurt to check out about.com: http://snowboarding.about.com/cs/beginners/ Been riding so long it's kinda hard to explain what's difficult about it to a beginner. But, thinking about how I learned to ride fakie last year, here might be some minor points: *learn how to stop first (real important!) *don't lean back, or else you'll get out of control *don't rush your turns, else you'll bail *always be on one edge or the other, for same reason as above
