  8. Hello! It's been a long time between postings for me, but I hope I can ask your collective advice! I'm hoping to head back up to Japan early March for 10 to 14 days of skiing, and wondering what my best options might be: I'm currently thinking of going to Furano (I've never been before), as it seems fairly affordable and has a good reputation for snow, but how is it, typically, in March? Last two trips have been to Niseko, which was remarkable for snow in mid-March; before that, I was living in Tokyo and could escape to Yuzawa as conditions looked good. Any suggestions?
  9. We arrived at New Chitose airport on the 14th, got on the bus to Furano. While we were on the bus, the weather started closing in, and it started to snow. The closer we got to Furano, the heavier the snow was falling. We got ourselves settled in at our accommodation, had some miso ramen for dinner, and fell asleep, exhausted after 18 hrs of travel. We woke up to the sight of fresh snow blanketing everything, and the sound of trucks, all loaded with snow, about 1 truck every 2 minutes. A quick walk to the 7-11 for some supplies, then into our boots and onto the shuttle to the Furano zon
  10. Today was my first day on snow this season, and I'm quite pleased to report it was a good one. After solid snowfalls Sunday night through Tuesday, Furano was able to open a portion of the Furano Area, with the Spies, Sailer and Shirakaba courses open. With just the gondola servicing the upper slopes, and one pair lift in operation, lift queues were long and the runs were short, but getting to sample November pow made it entirely worthwhile. Apologies for the Iphone photos. Next time I'll take my camera. Hopefully the blizzard forecast for tomorrow dumps enough
  11. Hey I was in Niseko a few seasons back and we are considering going to Japan again. I think we want to check out Niseko again but also some other place(s). Looks like Rusutsu can be done from Niseko, but Furano is further right? Using public transportation, what sort of time are we looking at taken from Niseko to Furano? Anyone give me an idea? Cheers
