  1. Big milestone.Congrats for surviving thus far
  2. I was thinking more along the lines of health and life...Had just got through reading the recent blog entry of a friends cousin who lost her 14 year old son to suicide a few months back, after having read the blog entry of an old friend of mine whose 3 year old is battling a relentless brain tumour. That kind of thankful. Puts the politics of the day and the lack of half way decent snow into perspective for me.
  3. Fair call GN It's about the mates/friendships with the snow buddies that we hit the Northern Hemisphere with. And if we get a slide in while we are at it - bonus. I am disappointed in this season, and it seems my continued ability to arrive at the worst possible times. But...there are worse things than a shit season...plenty to be thankful for.
  4. My trio of canines prevent anyone coming past the front gate. INCLUDING the Jehovahs
  5. Well, now...the RIGHT thing there is a lady never kisses and tells Back to telemarketers/cold callers...I MOST hate when they call with a Private/Blocked number. Hate hate hate people calling with no ID. Hate it even more when they then don't leave a message.
  6. so true Tubby. I blame my Ma. She is just the same. I have zero issues stringing the "Your computer has a virus and if you just log on and give me all your bank account details..." callers. LOVE making them think they have a live one on the line and then after about 20 minutes of playtime saying 'You are a dirty dirty scammer and I am thrilled to have occupied your time saving one poor old innocent granny from being ripped off". But it's the 'Thank you so much for your previous support of the fight against women's cancers/special event movie night for children with disabilities/di
  7. Shouldn't, and isn't. I know. But I am that girl... You know. The one who always does the 'right' thing even when it is approaching martyrdom.I am learning to say NO. But it doesn't come naturally.
  8. We have a Do Not Call register here in Aus. It is supposed to prevent this from happening if you register your phone number. However there are a lot of exceptions... I've been inundated with charity donation calls - multiple per day. It feels BAD saying it is annoying, and you feel like a jerk saying no...but the more I said yes to the more I got called...so now the answer is NO.
  9. Best solution for really cold conditions and gloves is using liners. I haven't met a glove yet that can deliver as good warmth factor in harsh conditions as an average glove PLUS liners.
  10. GN, Girls are all from Sydney. All snowboarders. I have to fly to them anyway...hitching a lift with one who has a season resort entry, we all have season passes, and shared accommodation is cheap - can't get a half decent room in Perth for the price. AND there is a chance we can get out and muck around on the mountain. It's a win. Even if it is not so great conditions. Plus it'll be the last sniff of snow until December. I'll need it to hold me over It's an addiction.
  11. If Aus was my only snow outlet I'd be crying my eyes out. But I am booked for Japan. It'll be OK. Glass half full tokabochi, I keep reminding myself ---> Glass half full!
  12. Looks like I've managed to time my visits PERFECTLY to avoid the awesome days and pick up all the shockers I'm back the weekend of the 13th, but meh... it's all about the weekend away with the girls and Efterski. Snow will be a bonus.
  13. Good Lord, I'd throw that white dress out. Bugger the Persil, show me a bin bag
  14. That is always a concern YOS. I like to measure up all the apertures that need to be negotiated before purchasing. I have to buy a new fridge and split system aircon today for a reno we are doing, but thankfully they are small ones, can just stick them in the back of my car, it's just a granny flat reno. I'd hate to have to replace my fridge in the kitchen...it's a commercial thing - 3 times the width of a normal large fridge. I reckon the previous owners must have had that brought in when there were no doors on the place!
  15. While it is still wet in Perth, Winter is beginning to lift. I can feel spring and summer on it's way. LOVE that, because it means winter in Japan is on it's way. I am getting quite excited now - flights booked for the entire Bear Clan!
  16. Oh...if people are going to call me a youngster I am sticking around
  17. I suppose it could. But if you need to cook it that fast, do you have time to eat it?
  18. badly spelled vamoose, meaning to 'be gone, vanish quickly'. She also screwed up 'whaling' - it is wailing. But spelling like a 10 year old is the least of her problems. Nasty vicious piece of work with zero compassion and understanding. Lacking all human decency.
  19. I got new skis and boots this southern winter. My snowboard gear is perfect. No upgrade needed - with the exception of swapping the Fastecs for ratchet bindings for Japan. I want a pair of low back standard ratchet bindings...undecided as yet which ones - recommendations received with thanks. Have bought new snowboards for all the cubs for this season, as the two youngest had well outgrown their boards, and the two older ones had well killed their old ones. They all did demo's to decide. All settled on Never Summer boards. Two Cobra's, an Evo and a Raptor. Christmas Gift buying COMPL
