Thanks ttuchin, lets hope Shiga is also easy with credit cards. have actually fired off an email to the resort, asking about ski hire - will be interesting to see if / how they respond!

With regards to buying lift tickets with your credit card - why don't you get your travel agent to package the lift tickets in with your accom? Then it is one less thing to be carrying cash around for. (Only works if you are planning on sking every day, regardless of the weather though!!) We are in Shiga in about a week and are wondering if we can use our card to do the ski rental - I guess we'll take enough cash just in case! Love to knwo if there is an ATM that accepts Aussie issued cards. Perhaps at Nagano station? Happy skiing and chocolate eating!

We seem to bring bad snow conditions with us when we travel - when in whistler a few years ago, it was raining so much that there was a deep lake of water on top of the frozen lake! We didn't even bother to ski (we can ski in the rain in Australia). Two years ago we were in Switzerland and they were having a bad start to the season - similar sad conditions to Australia's 2006 season. Now we are off to ShigaKogen, and the snow reports don't sound too promising so far! Is it us? Is it something we said??? (By the way - that year in Canada, we gave Whistler the flick and went to Lake Louis

I have a similar enquiry to janeytee. We (2 adults plus 9 year old)have booked 5 days skiing at Shiga Kogen (staying at Sun Valley). We plan to bring our ski boots but hire skis. We are good skiers and hope to hire decent skis. Does anyone know what the ski hire in Sun Valley is like? Or should we hire from elsewhere within the resort? Would appreciate any advice as our travel agent doesn't really know! Thanks!
