  1. the shipping & customs usually wipes out any price advantage of buying from the states. I recommend not buying boots mail order. try them on in the store and buy that pair
  2. i think if you can fit 2 fingers into your boot you would know already that it's too big for you!!!! when you try boots on in the store they should be tight, without any pressure points. If they're a bit too tight then it's perfect (if they're leather, not hard gum) since the leather will pack out after 10 days of riding. This year burton boots have a large toe box which helps. they also have shrinkage tech which lets you downsize. ie I was a 10.5 but with the large toe box, this year I can squeeze into a 10, and with the shrinkage tech is has a size 9 imprint. This means I can now go to a s
  3. just set up your regular stance. you won't notice a difference
  4. reverse camber means the tips of the board go up instead of down (put your board on the floor and see how the middle of it isn't flat on the ground. with reverse camber when you put the board on the floor, depending on the style, between the bindings is flat on the floor and the nose and tail are in the air. This means: easier to butter, generally a more fun board for park and having fun all over the resort. Should be not as good for speed or hardpack as regular camber. In powder since the nose is up already, you don't have to put your weight on your back foot = which eliminates back leg bu

There's a couple huge discussions about banana tech vs the burton hero (v-rocker)

  7. i assume that's a powder board then NRG? (I know nothing about Flow)
  8. I think Tubby's referring to 09 vids... Burton's It's always snowing somewhere has some serious stoke Ready by absinthe and you HAVE to get That's it, That's all <-that's the video of the year (but I haven't seen it yet) oh, and a friend told me that Aethestica was good and I got Car Danchi 3 already and it will def get you wanting to ride the pow!
  9. post pics of your new SNOWBOARDS in this thread ie no skis I'll start: 160 burton fish ltd and 162 burton malolo
  10. If I read you correctly, you're only eliminating leg burn by making those muscles stronger in the first place and raising your 'leg burn' threshold. What I'm talking about is not having to put strain on your back leg at all. The energy that you would have spent on leaning back is then used in smoother turns, stronger slashes, etc
  11. it's too bad you're mixing up 'riding with your weight-centred[as opposed to having your weight on your back foot]' with forward lean on bindings (the angle at which you have your highbacks).

  13. tsonda you don't seem to understand that taper eliminates the need for a longer board. I just looked up the specs and his option eclipse seems to have 3mm of taper which is basically none. going to a 154 malolo with 20mm of taper will have a big difference in pow. going to a 156 fish with 30mm of taper will have a HUGE difference oh, and forward lean does not have any effect on powder riding & legburn

You've heard correctly, but like I said the tail on the fish is so small that you have no problems turning. If you're worried about on piste ride-ability then go with the malolo. It rides like a normal snowboard on piste and floats really well in the powder. Niseko instructor... I checked the board specs and the last 4 years of t6's have not been tapered... just sayin'. are you comparing the waist to the nose width? act
  15. not at all hknz. you hardly have any tail on the fish and it is the easiest thing to turn. it has a really surfy feel to it. The great thing about the fish is that it just stays up and it floats really well even in the flats. It is practically impossible to submarine your board! but then again you won't regret the malolo either
  16. oh, and tapered boards (along with banana'd and rockered boards) kill regular boards with setback bindings in pow. They make riding pow so easy, and all that energy you spent leaning back you can use to up the ante in your riding.
  17. Originally Posted By: Niseko Instructor, wooooohoooo when combined with its tapered shape means that it rises above the pow well. sorry, the T6 is not tapered. Tapered boards in burton's line are the supermodel (10mm), malolo (20mm), piranha (25mm)(that's a special order), and the fish at 30mm. Anyways, HKNZ, you should be choosing between a 54 malolo and a 56 fish. for malolo's they recommend getting a board 2-4cm shorter than your regular board. For the fish it's 3cm to 6cm down from normal board length. The malolo will let you ride groomers no problem. ie if you're planning a
  18. From now on any Niseko vs Hakuba question should just be referred to Ger & Go Native's posts. They sum it up perfectly. (thanks for the pic props Ger ;-) )
  19. he means moving your bindings back as far back towards the tail of the board as they can go. This helps bring your weight to the back of the board, but doesn't eliminate back leg burn. Tapered boards like the fish eliminate back leg burn because they float naturally
  20. def get a powder board if you can afford it. Speaking of which, I have a 160 burton fish from last year available (brand new) for 40,000yen [since the classifieds are temp out of action]
  21. there's an indoor halfpipe in yamanashi.....I think it's called kamui misaka
