Do you actually live in Numata, GB?

I can't imagine any insurance company being exciting or wildly different from all the others.
Perhaps that's what they rely on, coming to think of it.

Looks like just a sprinkling on the top of Kagura. Think I saw a bit up there on the top of Hakkai-san as well yesterday morning (the mountain not the skijo).
Will be gone sharpish though now.

Lovely morning here

Thanks. Actually no, the 16 photos in that section were all taken in a very small area.
Park the car, walk 10m to the entrance, over the bridge, walk up to the temple area where all the bamboo is. The other hut place is about 40m down the road.
There's no charge and there was absolutely no-one else there during the 20-30 minutes we were there.
There's more to Takuminosato - this temple is a bit apart from the main bit - it's a 'craft village', and I think actually part of Minakami. Just off Route 17 heading towards Naeba, before Sarugakyo. Worth a visit I reckon. Nice looking little area, some interesting little inaka craft shops lining the pretty roads. And remember to stop at Tasuke manju about 4-5km further down towards Numata for some snacks.

Beautiful day today and time for a drive over into Gunma with the camera.
Lovely!
Yuzawa up before the Mitsumata tunnel
Into Gunma... going down Route 17 towards Sarugakyo
A fave location in the Takuminosato village area of Minakami. It's very picturesque.
Somewhere on the road down into Nakanojo.

They sure did, very regular earthquakes for about 2 months if my memory serves well. It wore people down gradually, or should I say quickly.
-
I heard the same.
But, I wouldn't know!

not seen this on the Japanese news....

Some even undersell themselves --- like Mt Granview!

Some are more honest than others.

Perhaps I should add... there have only been very rare freebies for me as a local here. There should be more!
The most freebies have been a number of lift tickets courtesy of SnowJapan over the years.

People can choose to live in the city or live near a ski resort, it's a choice right?
I spoke with one guy from a ski resort about this kind of thing last year. He said that it was good for locals to be there mid-week, even if they are not "spending" as such - a lively place is better than a dead feeling place.
Locals like myself also effectively "spread the word" about places, and I don't mean in an official/paid way. People have seen my photos and wanted to go "there". I don't think I'm meaningless to the local skijo even if I go on a freebie and don't buy curry-rice.

Even being so close to Mt Granview?!
Unimaginable isn't it!
-
Well I know plenty of kids here who don't enjoy their daily bukatsu activities, but still do them. So that's kind of what I was asking.

Does she enjoy the cross country or is that something she has to do?
-
Loads of locals here don't ski or board (anymore) either.
2 main reasons:
- not interested / got bored
- too busy
-
Locals should get discounts!
And free stuff.
And the ability to go to Tokyo return at the same price that Tokyo people can come here!

Well done, Sir!
