  1. How far away is Asahidake from Niseko? Reachable by public transportation on a say 2-day trip?? Or, might there be any companies arranging such a trip that you guys know of???
  2. When I was in Niseko on 2005, it was cash country. No cards accepted anywhere. No ATMs. How is it now??
  3. The more I read here, the more frustrated I get Where/what are "the Dakes"???
  4. My buddy and I will be in Niseko March 20-30. We're kind of disappointed with the current weather (huge understatement). Now, just in case no dumps will come, where the hell can we go for at least some challenging groomers?? I assume that Niseko will be kinda boring after a couple of days, if we don't get in the BC... might be wrong..?! Of course, we are coming for powder, but 1. not being locals, i.e. not knowing the BC or where to find pow 2. intermediate skiers in powder, i.e. not daring (stupid!?) enough to deviate too much from relatively "safe" off piste - what can we do?? Where can
  5. Looking for a resort or a not too remote area that will have (daily?) dumps to enjoy. Will be a group of 3-4 mixed level skiers (all 100% comfortable on groomers. All but one with 10+ weeks experience in off piste, but not hard core BC. The inexperienced one (me!) needs a terrain to get the hang of powder skiing before following the others). Were in Niseko in 2005 (mid Feb). Awesome! And I wouldn't mind going back. But heard that the place is so overrun these days that it's hard to find powder after 10am(?). This year, we intend to go the last 12 days of March. Which area would you r
  6. Is it necessary to make a reservation for the bus?? Or are there always seats available? Arriving on a Tuesday. 1 person, not in a group. Cheers, Niels
  7. I want to but a pair of powderskis in Niseko area. But a couple of Niseko sites state that there are very few skishops. And that the ones there are, are quite expensive?? Any idea where to buy skis in Niseko, then? - used is fine with me, if in OK condition. Also read online that it's close to impossible to use a creditcard in Niseko? Is it really true?!? Niels.
  8. OK... found a room at www.nisekoholiday.com (the only room left!). It looks really nice. Price is 4.375yen a day breakfast included. If interested in sharing the room, let me know asap. Thanks. ....ok, I'm done now.... :-) Niels
  9. Actually, if you are a badass skiier, nonsmoker, heavy drinker (ok, let's call it "a happy consumer of alcohol"), and would like to share a cheap room with me during the month Feb. in the Niseko area, let me know... Reason: I have this feeling that cheap accomodation is already fully booked... I (male, 34 yrs) come from Denmark, intermediate skiier... Still, weblinks to accomodation highly appreciated! Cheers and thanks for helping out, Niels.
  10. Boardbaka - I didn't express myself clearly, sorry. I've never been to Waza's myself. Was just interested in having som alternatives. I've written them an email, but still no response (about a week ago)... TimRide30x - just contacted Shizenkan... - they're already fully booked for all of Feb. (lucky you!) So, unfortunately we'll have to meet on the mountain, not at the lodge... :-( Any other suggestions for lodging cheaply during Feb in the Niseko area highly appreciated!!! Niels
  11. Where to stay cheaply... other than Waza's? Lift pass - the Niseko allmountain season pass or a 4 week Hirafu pass??? Some say that the allmountain pass is a waste of money... what's your experience?? My onpiste ability is good. I suck offpiste... (I'm a skier). Cheers, Niels.
  12. ...thinking about spending July and August 2005 taking an instructor's course.... do you have experience? Links? Do's/don'ts?? Btw, I'm a skiier...from Denmark (skiing the Alps), so I've never been to AUS or NZ..!! What's it like down there compared with the European mountains/snow?? Niels.
  13. Hi all! Danish newbie to this forum!! Will be in Sapporo during Jan-Feb 2005. Experienced piste skiier. Now, I feel ready to pick up offpiste skiing... Q #1. Which spot 2 go in the Sapporo area? - my needs are a) an English speaking skiinstructor beginner's offpiste challenge c) regular slopes for basics maintenance Q #2. Any (serious) ideas on how to minimize living costs, if I choose to stay for, say, the entire period (Jan-Feb, 8 wks in total)? The European way: Usually 2-6 people share a small apt in the resort area. Typically, a 1-2 bed apt w
