  1. wow, i have just read all 7 pages, i know less than 1% of the names, i must be getting old or very isolated here in Shizuoka or both?

Anyone into jazz? I like a lot of different music, but be bop jazz is the thing for me.

    For starters i recommend:

    Miles Davis Kind Of Blue

    Other great artists

    John Coltrane

    Wayne Shorter

    Thelonious Monk

    Charles Mingus

    Stan Getz

    Lee Konitz

    the list is long..

Right now i am listening to The Moody Blues though

Last week i listened to Brian Eno's 4 rock albums

    here comes the warm jets

    another green world

    before and after science

    taking tiger mountain

(So great, Ocean, if you liked your Laurie Anderson tape, u will love Eno)

Last, but not least, George Clinton and Parliament funkadelic, and good old Johnny "Guitar" Watson, whose song "It's a real mother for ya" i play when i am getting close to the snow resort

  2. Thanks-A-Lot for some great replies, really!

Crazyski and Badmigrane, you have said it all in what i believe is your native language, it is a pleasure to read english written by "the pro's.

This Forum is turning out to be the best find for me in a long time.

BTW, just saw the weather forecast, to sum things up: the winter is 15 days late this year, don't worry, just be patient (like i am - NOT)

  3. Hi!

miteyak, either we are talking about 2 different scenarios or you are a very brave person!

when i was in nepal i met many mountainbikers, in the mountains around Kathmandu, and Annapurna, it all looked nice, although too difficult for me.

The reason i adviced against cycling in nepal is that the road from kathmandu to Pokara looks like suicide on a bike with the big trucks. but then again i never surf waves bigger than 10 faces og go down the Olympic downhill slope in Happo One.

If you have time, tell us a little about your trip, would love to hear about it

  4. Hi there, maybe a bit late for an answer, but!

i would think it is more safe to do skydiving without a parachute than riding a bike in Nepal, been there! and from what i've heard, India is even worse. if i was to give any advice, it would be DON'T DO IT!!!!!

I've been to Nepal twice, and i simply love the place, people are really nice and Kathmandu is a very special place.

But the mountains are truly magical, there is nothing like it anywhere in the world, so gogogo, but do your self a favor and go by bus, although it can be a bit scary too

i'll be more than happy to share some more specific info if you have some questions

  5. Badmigrane and others, thanks for the input, and forgive me for beeing a bir of a flyfugger, but:

how in the world can a chip, however clever it is, amplify a signal whitout a external powersupply, if Head have found a way, why don't we all connect their chip to everything electrical, and get our power amplified 7 times at no cost? do you know what i mean?

That beeing said, i cant wait to get the board in the snow, i have ridden a really cheap crappy board for my first 3 seasons, and this year i got some (hopefully) killer gear.

I am really proud of myself, usually i am the kind of person who always buys expensive gear, only to find out that my abilities doesn't match the quality of the hardware. This time i know i have outgrown the old snowboard gear (not that i am the new Terje Haakonsen ;\) )

I started snowboarding at the age of 31 (what am i doing with that nickname?), here in japan. 2 years ago Yonex did some promotion of their boards om Hakuba 47. I tried a "real" snowboard, and just knew instantly what difference the board makes, wauw!

anyways.. just sitting here writing off my heart, guess the waiting is hard on all of us!

  6. No, this is not an insult to the skiers.

I have just got my new snowboard, a Head Intelligence, the one with the chip and the fibers that stiffens when you go hard, and i am anxious to get some info before the season kicks off.

The technology was introduced on last years skis, and i was wondering if any of you fine people have ridden them and if so, what do you think of them

  7. Hmm i must admit i did it last weekend...

I had To try my new bindings and boots, so i packed my gear and drove 150 km to Yeti,

    WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!!!

first of all, it was raining. I know i can't blame Yeti for that.

But cmon, the gelende was 3 - 5 m wide, and overcrowded! that makes it impossible to go any faster that walking-speed.

and guess what the snow show stopped 50 meters before the lift!!!!!! I had to walk down the final 50 meter to the lift, a slooow 10 minute ride up the 700 m slope, that was after waiting 10-15 minutes in line!!!

So, after one hour of Yeti-ing i had enough, and went home knowing 2 very important things:

    My new bindings rocks.

I will not return to Yeti anytime soon

My whole point is not to endorse any drugs or substances, just to point out the bizare:

you do not have the right to decide over your own body.

anyway nice to find a forum like this...

  9. Hi everybody!

found this great site and the even better forum just 2 weeks ago, seems like a lot of good people here..

    Let me share my view:

Been smoking weed for 20+ years, i both loved and hated it. I've done a lot of other "stupid" things as well.

Weed is NOT the answer to anything, it's not healthy, you don't get smart or start to remember stuff...

But i still basically think that we should be allowed to smoke wichever trees we like, It's our life, why can't we do with it as we please??

let me dust off the phrase "victimless crime"

... anyway, no smoking here in jp, kind of happens automatically \:\)
