  1. Spud, you are not alone with your problem,

this article refers to Outlook, i think:

    http://ask-leo.com/where_do_outlooks_autocomplete_suggestions_come_from.html

Not that it is much comfort to you, but the function you describe is very useful for some people.

Instead of typing the mail address, simply type the receivers real name and the most used mail address shows up.

if you have fax or telex capabilities on your outlook they will also show up.

do your self a favor and get a real outlook 2003.

It can sort your incoming mails in all sorts of ways, i use "by Sender" i am amazed that no other mail program has that feature, it is the only way!!!

... Ocean, don't play with yourself when operating your your headphones or computer \:\)

  2. there are many types of 2 and 4 line kites.

4 line kites can be controlled to fly in any direction without turning it, usually l;ooks like this

    1-5m-7.jpg

The 2 line sports kites (which i know most about) comes in many different designs. Some are optimized for speed other for great pull, which many people loves. other kites are design for precise turns and low speed, these kites are used to perform "ballets" or team flying. You will be amazed what some of these teams can pull off.

The types i like best ate the ballet and trick kites. Tricks are things that defies the laws of nature. first step is to get slack on the lines, and thereafter you can make the kites spin and flip in unreal ways. there is a small video here:

    http://www.invento-hq.com/ click videos,

scroll down (a long way down) to Video File: obsession2_web

you will see some nice tricks being performed there.

after been flying sports kites for some years i wanted to try kite surfing, since i am also a surfer, i thought it would be easy and fun. but i found it too difficult to learn, expensive and went against my preferences in sports: keep it simple (snowboarding being the exception).

A top sports kite can be bought for around 3 man.

cheaper kites can also go great though. and there is years of fun. it has a meditative feel to it. gives a moderate exercise, lots of fresh air and if you like kids and childish people in general you will make lots of friends. (can be avoided with the use of ipod which discourages people from talking to you).

A classic ballet and team kite, the Tramontana from HQ, now out of production

    tramontana.jpg

The Passion, also from HQ also out of production

    rave1.jpg

Sorry about the 2 kites above are not out of production, but i own them, and know them very well. notice how the wingtips are designed very differetnly, the trick kite seems to oversteer into turns, which helps to tilt the kite...

    oh i'm nerding already

here is a real big pull

  3. SerreChe, snowkiting and kitesurfing looks really great, but i was thinking of stunt kites. i've been flying sports kites for 10 years, this kind:

    prism-mirage.jpg

i have had a 2 year break from it, but recently bought new sticks for my old beat up kites. I've been flying the last two weeks and had a blast.

    the Germain company http://www.invento-hq.com/

produces the best kites available, if anyone is interested in flying, let's let's

    how do you know? ;\)

So, you cannot accept God as an intelligent superhuman, and honestly neither can i!

could you accept God and the devil as (imaginary, and used as) metaphors for describing human behavior?

Your opinion on God remind me of my views on iTunes by the way.
  5. I never intended to enter this discussion to be the protector and advocate of neither the 10 commandments or religion in general. i certainly agree that religion has been, and still is the cause of a lot of suffering and disasters.

But to name it as the root of all evil is plain stupid!

Let's look at the first commandment:

Do not worship any other God

Depending on how you interpreted it, it can be either your ticket to hell. or it can be the thing that holds a civilization together.

Christianity came to Denmark around year 1000 and marked the end of the viking age. Christianity set up some social rules on how to behave (to score points for the afterlife)

These set of rules worked great for the country as a whole, the king was able to collect taxes and so on.

If people were free to "shop" for any God or religion the church's monopoly on "good morale" would be broken and then there would have been trouble.

As you all know, today we have freedom of religion in most countries.

What i am trying to say is, that while the first commandment a bit harsh it has certainly served it's purpose in the past.

    Spud, you wrote

     Quote:

Who is to judge who or what God is? maybe he/she/it is all the same....

Religion and religious myths is the foundation modern philosophy, just ask our Greek friend Tsondaboy, alsoask him how he thinks Greek temples (to worship the gods) has inspired modern architecture.

    Misdorano wrote

     Quote:

Nothing comes out of the thin air, neither "basic social contracts" or "civilized society" these things springs from religion, like it or not!

Fossil, your written english is very complex for a viking like me, but if i understand you correct i think we agree on the

"Man needs a measure by which he can judge behavior both on a personal and broad scale"

I may be fooling myself, but i try to pick from both the "Humanitarianism" and the "religious" garden

I will be looking forward to talk about the terms "sin" and forgiveness"

Christianity has this sneaky trick of making us all guilty of something

    more to come...

  6. Don't underestimate the impact religion has had on Is has provided us with our set of morale which (most of us) live by.

    10 simple rules:

    10_Comm.gif

most of them not so bad, even le_spud must admit, right?

think about the impact religion has had on art (music, painting) and architecture (and still have).

i think that a world whitout religion would be an even more scary place. Who would set the standard then? scientists? money men? or the ones with the biggest gun?

there are too many questions that cannot be answered with the use of science and logic alone.

If it was not for religion, i think cloning of super human beings would be happening already.

I am aware of all the horrible things humans do in the name of God, but that is not his fault!

..and no i am not a church going, gay bashing nerd, nor do i think the pope has a cool hat.

But i do believe in God. This planet with all it's beings is too much of a wonderful miracle.

  7. Hi,

I went with my mtb crazy friend to Fujimi panorama in june.

we had a really good time, mountain biking is a lot of fun, but too expensive for me.

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=10957&g2_serialNumber=2

The gondola ticket is 3500 yen for a day.

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=10958&g2_serialNumber=2

We rented freeride bikes there, including lift, lunch and onsen it was 11.500 yen. that was including saftey gear, but no goggles!!! so we had to go to the local home center and buy 89 yen safety goggles (we were too cool)

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=10969&g2_serialNumber=2

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=10971&g2_serialNumber=2

Our outfits were a source of great amusement to the regulars there.

Fujimi has 3 runs, an easy, intermediate and one downhill.

i was a first timer, and i had no real problems, the most difficult was the intermediate run.

My friend is a real expert, so it wasn't very challenging for him, he had great fun though.

i like speed, so the downhill course quickly became my favorite.

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=10975&g2_serialNumber=2

Luckily for me, there were very few people there, i think i would have been uncomfortable with people overtaking me all the time out there. i counted less than 20 riders that day.

No real waiting to get lunch either.

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=10970&g2_serialNumber=2

If you have a day off work and money to burn, this is good fun.
