  1. O 11 your right about them not being anymore dangerous than trees or other punters but back home towers seem to have so sort of amazing punter magnet on them, everyday a couple of tools would smack into them and still end up in pretty bad shape even though they had pads on them. They seem to cause more damage to the body than a tree. Maybe its the steel ladders on the up hill side? Who knows.

  2. When I was in Med school I watch a dude getting the job done.NASTY. Like O11 said only local used so you can look at yourself getting the snip while theyre doing it. Walk in and hobble out two hours later. Will get it done myself oneday as its easier for me than the wife but will need some serious fortifying before I go in.

  3. My wife called me this morning on her way to work in tears, she saw an old lady run over and killed on the main street of Hakuba. Man this towns had a bad run lately, or maybe its just space cadets bahind the wheels. I feel bad for my wife as it can`t have been pretty to watch.

Lots of consoling need tonight when she gets home

  4. anybody thought about smackin into lift towers?

Ive noticed over the las tfew years, myself poaching lines under lifts, that very few of the lifts have tower pads on them.

Had a mate in Nesiko wrap himself around a lift tower and broke his femur. Ski patrol refused to rescue him until he groveled himself onto the ski run nearest, it took him 3 hours as he was alone, bloody near died. While I dont condone it I do it myself if the conditions are right and I have scoped out the line first, just like I do in the trees. Coming from an ex-patrollers point of veiw, if they opened all these areas up, imagine all the tools and weekend warriors jumpin in with no experience and no thought to there own safety and the safety of others, just a nightmare, in saying that Japan does take things to the extreme here.

  5. My dog was free!! last of the litter to go. Nobody wanted her because she has a chunk taken out of her left nostral courtesy of her grand mother, she was trying to steal food from her, so everyone thought she was deformed. I didnt really care about her looks, don`t even notice it anymore. Hope she heals quick cos I`ve ordered her a new dog sled harness for winter so she can tow me around the roads!! Gonna be a blast.

  6. Yeah Davo, Goin for the Karma credits, although thinkin about it, Us gaijins do get f**fed over if we make a near mistake. Personally Im glad with the course I took of no severe injuries nocomplaints. If I had been living in a city it would have been different, but I feel more sorry for my dog at the mo, she just had her overies whipped out, that gotta hurt more than Im feeling.

    Davo see you soon.

  7. I reckon mate. Craigeburn, Temple Basin and Broken River, rope tows sort the men out from the girls, T-bars and pommas are nothing compared to these, and NO groomers, that has to ROCK. Only freshies for the people that can handle it. You think T-bars hurt after a day! Pussys, come skiing Kiwis stlye, Well show you PAIN, and the only fersh tracks 3 days after a storm!!! I know a guy who had his hand crushed in a guide wheel of a rope tow, lost his hand and is still riding them, tell me thats not being hard assed.

  8. Back in NZ we used to get a good pizza from Uncle Doms and a case for beers, sit around shooting the shit while geting coned out of our brains, then go to the pub. Things have changed alittle since I tied the knot. Now its a trip to Azekura Sanso for a private onsen with my wife and whoever we made turns with for the day, quiet beer in the onsen, then off for a feed of mexican or something, a few more beers then home to tuck into the sack and get recharged of the next day. I feel like Im getting older each year, hardly ever go out to bars or clubs anymore, I feel like a grandad with all the little whipper snappers running around my ankles when Im in a club.

  9. Shes a Husky/Sheeba X, shes not a happy camper at the mo, just sits there looking at me with big droopy blue eyes, I feel really bad for her. I just changed her dressing because the ones the vet put on wern`t very good. He uesed a bandage the was sticky all over so I had a hell of a time trying to be gentle and removing the bandage. Pretty much had to cut heaps of her fur to get it off but she looks more comfortable with the new one on. Had to make a cone for her head so she would leave her cut alone, the vet never put one on, He did not come very highly recomended but we didnt have much choice on where to take her.

  10. I had a look thru my resume to try and answer this one but its difficult. Being a seasonal worker you basically take what you can get. The longest job Ive had was Ski Patrol for 7 winters but the the summers works pretty scarce, so Ive done everything from Landscaping to the freezing works, Dairy farms, Deer farms, even 6 weeks on a pig farm but that sucked so I quit, spent a summer backpacking around south america and two southern hemisphere summers in canada. The longest I have stayed at a job was 9 months at Jomo Station in Niigata.

  11. Got me dog spade yesterday and picked her up this morning, she looks real bad, I feel sorry for her but it just had to be done. Shees done nothing but sleep since we got home and Im not about to wake her, she should be right in about a week. Poor thing has a huge bandage around her guts to cover the 5cm hole the vet cut into her, and about a dozen stitches, but she`ll be all good and ready for winter.

  12. She would have been up to her neck in s**t if she had hit my dog. I wasnt too worried about me as I tend to bounce quite well and new I had all appendages functioning after, I was worried about my head though as my helmet has a huge crack in it and is now useless. She wanted to replace my helmet but I said dont bother as Im leaving the country next year and wont get to ride my bike for much longer, I told her to get some helmets for her kids instead. Had a CAT scan the other day just to check everything was functioning and turned out OK, the scan was free as the local doctor is a regular drinking buddy of mine. Found out that I cracked a rib, that sucked, it doesnt hurt too bad. Shes come around home a few times now to check up so I give her full credit on the worry thing.

  13. mines cool at the moment, Im a housewife/husbandy thing until the snow falls.I get to do the dishes, vaccying and cleaning every morning, then its mountain bike time with me dog, maybe come home for a quick beer then off to the lake for a paddle or a round of golf.

    Im a real stressball!! lol.gif
