  1. Sorry soubriquet, I'm not sure we can turn that off but will look into it.
  2. Yes maoriboy, if you are not keen on the layout of the new forums, you can easily turn off that right hand side colum - when you do that they will be fairly similar to how they were before the changes were made. Thanks!
  3. At the moment that is not possible, SirJibAlot - though it is something we hope might be possible sometime later.
  4. We can do "Recent Active Topics" (ones with new posts) or "Recent New Threads" (new posted threads) - and specify which forums the listings come from (all forums or just 1, ie. Snow Talk). Any thoughts?
  5. LARGER FONTS We have now created a new "stylesheet" for the Forums which in effect makes all the fonts/text on the Forums displayed larger. To change the font sizes displayed, go to My Stuff and then My Preferences. You should see an section called Your preferred stylesheet. In that dropdown, please choose snowjapan-largerfonts. Scroll down the page and click Submit. When you do that you should find that the fonts of all the parts of the forums are larger than before. (You can of course go back to the smaller font version at any time).
  6. QUOTATION BOXES We have adjusted the way quotation boxes appear in posts - they should now look generally cleaner and better laid out than before.
  7. LAYOUT: We have made some changes to the layout of the Forums. The default is now 2 columns and you are able to turn off/on the right hand side column in My Stuff > My Preferences. GRAEMLINS We have added the original SJ graemlins which can now be used on the "Quick Reply" and "Reply" pages as well as in the Shout Box. You should now be able to post them by using the shortcuts you are used to as well (for example "colon and right bracket" for smiley). In the main "Reply" form, click on the "Smilies" icon link and you will be able to just click on the Graemlin you want to use
  8. Thanks - yes I thought that a bit as well Indosnm and so have now given everything a bit of a border. How does that look?
  9. Please let us know which of the following "data islands" (ie. those things on the right hand side column of the forums pages) you look at or use? So vote for the ones that you use or "look at" - even if only a little or sometimes. If you NEVER use one or never look at it or are just not interested at all, please do not check the box for that one..... You can choose as many as you like. Thank you!
  10. With 3 columns turned on for me, the image appears without problems. Things like this are going to depend on the size of your display and the settings of your display.
  11. The "old design" is gone. If you think the new design is a mess, go into My Preferences and turn the right hand side column off - that will get rid of the Shout Box and Calendar and give the remaining colums more space.
  12. A bit of a request to long-time Forum members: Please delete your main Forums bookmarks, clear cache and then bookmark the following page: http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php (if you didn't change the URL you have bookmarked, it is basically using a "forwarding script", and it would be best all round if you bookmarked the new direct address) You might also get a nice new icon appearing in your URL window in your browser. Thanks

This is most definitely one of the major 07/08 updates There are a few reasons why we didn't wait until the normal "October updates" period. We wanted to get it online and working sooner rather than later: a) so that any problems could be fixed up in time so that everyone has a lot of time to get used
  14. Note to everyone who is about to register: Please note that it is now required that you verify your email address before we can approve your registration. On registering you should receive an email with a link in it. Click on that link to verify your address. Once that is done we can then do what we have to do to approve it. We currently have 3 registrations waiting to be approved, but need those emails to be verified first. They also need to be verified within 24 hours, otherwise the registration will be automatically deleted. This email verification and the new randomly ge
  15. When you post a Youtube video on the Forums, do not include the full URL between the and parts - you should only have the videoID in there. The URL for the above video is: The videoID part of that (which you should put between and with no spaces) is the bit at the end after the equals symbol, ie. PemQ6iECS1g Thanks!
  16. You wanted this section didn't you CB? You can post images just like you can in the other Forums. Either upload them the the Japan General Photos section on our site (or somewhere else) then as before should do it.
  17. A few more changes: - the thread subjects are now in bold to make them stand out a bit more - there default number of topics and subjects on a page is now set at 20 (rather than the initial 10 when things were imported) Let us know if there are any other things. We will continue to keep on adjusting things now that the Forums are online and out there. Thanks
  18. Snow Japan Forums Bookmarks To people who have previously bookmarked the Snow Japan Forums: We recommend that you delete your previous bookmark, delete your history/cookie/cache and then come back to the following address: http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php That is also the best direct address to bookmark.
  19. Welcome to the new "Travel" section of the Forums. This section is intended for discussion on non-snow related travel and trips. Rules and Guidelines of the Forums in general apply to this new section. Let the discussions begin!
  20. Welcome to the new Snow Japan Forums If you have been using the Snow Japan Forums for any length of time you might have been quite surprised to come here and see them all looking so different. Welcome to the new more powerful forums. We have been looking to upgrade the forums for quite a while now but waited until the time was right and until we found what we feel is the best setup available. There is a lot of new functionality in these new Forums and it will probably take a while to get used to everything. But it shouldn't take too long before everyone gets used to the ne
