In preparation for a further change that may be coming to the site in time for the coming season, we would be interested to speak with people who have extensive experience in avalanche and backcountry issues in Japan (and especially qualified in the area of avalanche). If you feel that includes you and are interested in perhaps becoming involved here, please do contact us - email us at our editor@snowjapan.com address. Thank you and hope to hear from you.

The chat box - do you use/read it?
SnowJapan replied to snowboarding-sally's topic in General off-topic discussions
Taken a quick look into this and had a bit of a talk about it. While it might be technically possible to modify things to add this functionality, it would need development time and we have just got too many other things in development at the moment that have much more priority. We'll keep it in mind for the future though. (Personally, I don't really think it would be worth the effort it would take to implement it and think the chatbox serves its purpose fairly well at the moment). -
Thanks. Actually the updates that we will be making for the photo section have already been completed (not to be meddled with any more before putting online!). At the moment we are working on various other things and we will be putting all the updates online together. Hoping that people will like them all.

Thanks. Not sure how it would work in practice Journey Man as the 2 formats are not "compatible", so to speak. The easiest way actually be to Trip Reports be posted here, and then we (SJ) manually create journals for the relevant member in the Journals section. Or something like that. Got to think this all through. Quote: Maybe SJ*'s could suggest/remind peeps of the SJ sections occasionally. One of the things that we will be doing when we update the site is do this!

Good point as we don't particularly want people to not post further Reviews and Journals... but the fact is that people do post simple TRs on the Forums (and not in Journals etc). We were just thinking of how to bring those attention more and perhaps encourage more TRs at the same time. Lots to think about (as always seem to be the case!)

I don't know about you but I'm hoping that the hottest part of summer is now behind us. We have been working on a lot of fairly major updates to the main site that we hope to launch in October, but it's now time for us to start making a number of changes and adjustments to the Forums as we begin to prepare for the coming season. One thing we are thinking over is the idea of having a section of the Forums set aside just for TRIP REPORTS (as we have temporarily set it up here). Of course, it's Forum members that will be using this during the coming season & so we would very much

Look, I really do appreciate the help while there was no-one on duty, but can we now leave this alone please? We have got enough to cope with - with this idiot and the forums suddenly becoming "bump" all over the place.... thanks.

Not sure yet, I am looking into it now. We have the IP address and other info though which has been slapped on the ban list. We'll compare it with the previous times this person has been on. Thanks. (PS lots of intelligent posts please to cover up all the bumps!! ;)9

Very sorry about that. Before responding to this I went over things and deleted all the posts and also zapped the membership as well. It seems that person got through our checks unfortunately. It is extremely annoying, but we'll do what we can to prevent people like that on here in the first place. Thanks for all the notices people sent, and sorry for the delay.

Thanks for pointing this out me jane, we need to adjust this - we'll look into it (but might take a bit of time!) In the meantime if there is anything that really needs to be changed just let us know.
