  1. Not yet - it was parting with the money that hurt at this point. but looking forward to putting them to work. Just ordered today - under way from Melbourne. Should be here next week
  2. Seemore I know I am a bit off topic here but I recall you were looking into comms stuff. How it go? Back on topic - Looking at a good 2nd hand fish this afternoon, though.
  3. Ended up biting the bullet and got the ascents with tails. I had forgotten what they meant when they said you have to earn your turns - ouch - that hurt a little Only a few more things. Will look into a split next year. Thanks to all for the info - appreciate it
  4. Have been riding an Allian Backman camber 156 board for years. Great board on groomers but even with the bindings setback as far as possible, theres boards much better suited for the deep days in Japan. Once you get some speed up its ok but always have to ride out flat spots in others tracks. For me,its time to not just settle and make do and add a more powder board to the rack. So trying a few new/ secondhand boards next year and have acquired - 162 Malolo & hopefully a 165 NS summit (yet to pick up) and still hunting for a fish / others to try out. I have read great reviews re: the
  5. I have invested in an Osprey Koda 30 after seeing a heap of people with them and comments here. It has vertical carry for board.
  6. Gidday Jynxx. Take the thread wherever especially when it comes to gear. The Sj'rs / site is the best when it comes to knowledge and no nonsense practical appraisals of gear
  7. I am sure you will be taking them to Island bend so if we meet up it would be much appreciated. Resutsu would be better though.
  8. Oz - initially, the main purpose would be for hokkaido/ accessing un track pow. In the past, although having snow boarded for many years, I have been a bit of a poacher but looking forward I want to have the right gear, knowledge that if I go on a guided tour /go thru the gates/ find an abandon resort / or meet up with people that I am as well prepared as possible I don't want to be floundering around wasting energy and holding people up because of crappy equipment.
  9. Looking to buy some as I haven't gone down the track of a split board, yet, but... What's the go? Are they all the same? Doesn't seem much to them? Do I really need them? I have heard good reports in forums re: msr lightning ascents with flotation but they are exxy and haven' been able to find in oz. Would tubbs or lesser brand ( ocean and earth) be ok? Is there a big difference? I suppose you get what you pay for but any body with previous experience, it would be great to hear your advice before I part with the reddies.
  10. Wiped out badly. Funny watching the camera roll about now but now know why you were pissed off at the time. Lucky no trees in the way, you were fair haulin'
  11. I have been looking on ebay/ gumtree over here. Seen one fish in about 2 months and it went quick (missed it). Older model, no mini swallow tail and inserts/not est, all good for non est bindings. I think it went for about $200. I am still looking and will keep an eye out for you but there will need to be two. Picking up a 2nd hand burton Malaloo (bit more common - seen two come up) and NS summitt soon, found on ebay, and hopefully a fish soon to try out. Gunna try a few out, keep what I like and hopefully resell left overs, but for the price is not too much of a worry. They have new cuda
  12. Looking pretty sad as far as snow down there at mo via snow cams but dare say the parties/bands will be in full swing this we.
  13. No, but there are some hunters down here that do. I heard its not bad meat depending on season and what they've been eating in their diet. Wrong season and poor food sources ..... tastes like ass. Is this what your after. That's some pig. CAUGHT IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA You might think twice next time about wandering around in the scrub. This pig was caught in Australia, on Roy Hill Station, via Newman.(Pilbara) They only caught it because their dogs were going missing - it was eating their dogs
  14. I was trying to work out how many days per resort but I suppose that would be governed by snow fall/ terrain/who you meet up with, etc. Meeting up with Beniswood or others would be advantageous to getting around more quickly and not getting lost. What a great offer. My trip for 2014 is almost sorted /booked now but I have got leave pass (at moment) to do something like your trip in 2015. Got the idea from you and others. Sounds great, look forward to hearing about it
  15. Being from the central coast I'm lost when it comes to Sydney & trying to save pennies to upgrade snow gear. Am having problems hunting down 2nd hand pair of snow shoes. I dont mind spending the coin on brand stuff when/if it performs but hard to tell what its going to do in the elements when trying on in store. Really annoying when they are no better or worse than a lesser brand.
  16. Thanks Onehunga, I think we have a costco in Sydney now so will check if they have got some. Have brought cheapies from aldi before but imo not warm enough. Ok for walking around or putting chains on
  17. Sales person in Sydney suggested swanny mitts but bit more than 16 squid (thats good price for warm gloves) more like $100
