If I'm up near Appi Kogen, does anyone have any resorts to recommend for a day trip? Or should I just stick with Appi? Thanks in advance.

Hi SJ David, Yes. That is the one. From what I'm reading they stopped using that Gondola in March 2008. From what I was reading, they have removed 1 Gondola, stopped using another and stopped using a J-bar, if I'm reading it right. It's a shame. Been looking at Wikipedia and they had this too add I'm trying to talk about this one, that was just stopped this season. 雫石ゴンドラ 6名 3227m 毎秒5メートル 1989年運転開始。旧雫石第二ゴンドラ。現在高低差日本一。2012~13シーズンは運転を休止している。 This one was stopped back in 2008. 雫石第一ゴンドラ 6名 3531m 毎秒5メートル 1984年運転開始。2008年廃止。旧雫石ゴンドラ。　開業当時日本最長。高低差は引退まで日本一だった。

Hi Guys, I am just putting together a trip with my Dad that was going to include a day trip to Shizukuishi in Iwate Ken. Looking on the English website on the trailmap on the far right there is a mountain serviced by a Gondola. On the Japanese trail map on the Japanese website that whole area isn't displayed. Is this a recent development? Had anyone noticed that the Gondola is no longer mentioned? (Sorry if this has been convered before) nebjamino. I know its a lot of inconvenient training around...but I might change it up like this. Saturday - Cupid Valley Sunday - Cortina (Naoetsu >> Itoigawa >> Minami-Otari) Monday - Charmant. I like skiing powder, but I'm happy to not be trying Japans biggest and best (e.g Nozawa) this weekend. This is more of an exploring trip.

Ill be coming from Niigata-shi...but ok... I guess you guys are convincing me to make a slight change to my plans haha.

I probably sound like a big idiot asking this, but when I read the archived weather reports, it presents them in a graphical table...and I don't know how to read that. For example if there is a 1 in the snow column on a certain date what does that mean? How does that differ from a 3 or a 2? Currently my favourite Japanese 'rock' band is 'The Back Horn.' Their latest album came out 6th June, but I haven't heard it yet. This is my favourite song of theirs...reminds me a bit of Muse.
