  1. No wonder the standard of spelling amongst Sapporo English students has deteriorated recently ;-) Think I'm going to change my plans and go to Teine 2moro and Kokusai on Thurs, being as though the Otaru train passes through Teine anyway! That way I can have an extra hour in bed and still make that 9:10 bus :-)
  2. But I need to go just to see how many times I can see "Tubby woz 'ere" scratched everywhere!
  3. Wish I'd seen this last night!! Thanks anyway Mike - am heading to Kokusai 2moro so hopefully you've left some pow for me!! Kiroro's actually ok. Still lots of snow in the trees and it's holding up well in the shade :-) Nice resort - reminds me a little of Kamui.
  4. Zannen‼ Looks like I've missed the best of the snow there anyway, so am currently enjoying a few beers in a standing sushi bar in Otaru!
  5. Isn't she now Muika's muse?? After some good days in Furano, am now on the bus to Sapporo. Destination Otaru, riding Kiroro 2moro.
  6. The maid's cars or the maids themselves? Have just read through this thread and it's an interesting read. Don't need a car yet but miss having one, and always fancied a Subaru back in the UK so will probably end up with a 2nd hand one of them as and when.
  7. Perhaps I should hire a local guide - know anyone Muika? ;-)
  8. Forgot I'd started this one so thought I'd update it by confirming that I've finally found my stoke!! This was the first winter in years that I haven't been checking the daily reports and reading the latest resort reviews. Yes, I was busy with other stuff but the thought had occured to me that maybe boarding didn't mean as much to me as previously. Glad to say I was wrong!! First day back on a board yesterday was a decent powder day at Furano. Legs shot by half 2 but even the groomers were a blast! More of the same this morning with a bit of sunshine thrown in for good measure. It's good to be
  9. I guess it's horses for courses, really. Mike does a great job of sniffing out the good stuff, and people who rent cars have a better chance of accessing better areas than those who are resort-bound. I'm a cheapskate and go for the hostel and public transport route but must admit to being tempted to follow Goz's lead and go Car Danchi style! Am now in Furano btw and have had a couple of great days! ????
  10. I saw that too! Thanks for the Teine update TB!! I'm aiming to be there on or around Weds 26th/Thurs 27th if you're not working and fancy showing me your secret stashes!? Have fun 2moro!
  11. Thanks guys! KD, how long you in town for? If you're still around and about and it's not so good at Niseko, I'm aiming to be at Kiroro on Tues 25th if you fancy a trip over? How's the Big G looking Muika?? So where's Tubby? Busy watching the curling I guess.
  12. Hi all! I've been a stranger on here recently due to a combination of assignment deadlines, sulking about a bad back (tweaked over Christmas whilst messing about on my bmx!), buying a new bmx (the old one obviously not being good enough for my back!!) and watching the Olympics! So having just finished my assignments, and my back has survived clearing snow off the balcony for a second consecutive weekend, it's finally time to go snowboarding!!! Am flying up to Hokkaido on Tuesday, then heading over to Furano for a few days then back to Sapporo. Am going to give Niseko a miss this
  13. You keep your dirty, little, pie-eating hands away from my baby!
  14. Sorry about that David! Got carried away at the thought of losing TB (and Mr Wiggles) some money! Btw, I HATE capitals!!
  15. In an underhand if not desperate attempt to muscle in on TB's deal and lose Mr Wiggles his hard-earned commission, I happen to know where there's a Goodwood-award-winning, 155 Ride Machete with Salomon Arcade bindings going for a good price!
  16. Difficult question!! Depends on conditions, who you're riding with, etc, etc. Went to Cortina once but was riding solo so missed most if not all of the sweet spots. Have had fun at both Iwatake and Tsugaike despite poor conditions. Hated the bottom half of Happo but loved the top. But have had the most fun at Goryu/47, though admittedly that was the other side of the ropes!
  17. Would like to know where some of that was shot! I recognise Asahidake but the final section looks a bit like Kamui. In any event, a cool vid!
