  1. uppity? Aside a moderate dose of mockery, i pointed out that 1) if you dont care about it, i can understand why you wouldnt think its a big deal, and 2) its not only about sierra, but about buying your board internationally in the future. I reckon its a really interesting development in truth.
  2. i believe they do, but i was also told their skis are way overpriced and you can buy them cheaper and better elsewhere
  3. har! you people are excellent. Truth is, if you want to buy a snowboard and live somewhere like, oh i dunno, japan, this is pretty huge. If you dont want to buy a snowboard this isnt huge. I dont care about ipads for instance, nor about the super new iphone, so that news is utterly irrelevant to me. What's also interesting is that there will be a backlash from this and that backlash will define whether or not youll be paying almost double price for your deck because you live in japan/australia.
  4. Sorry to sound like a corporate stooge here, but i reckon this is genuinely good news for everyone here. Sierrasnowboard are doing free international shipping on orders over $500 now. They are also doing free international shipping for a limited time on their own brand snowboard products (the sierra crew/reverse crew - modeled on the custom, the bluebird - modeled on the guru, the stunt - modeled on the blunt, the v-spot, i have no idea... and the team). I figure that now would probably be a good time to try out a reverse camber deck if you havent already Oh and to promote the whole thing,
  5. do you know how much those things cost? He better be wearing a cheap knock off! Anyone trashing a pure kilt from the wee kiltie shops from inverness needs a stern talking to about the virtues of thrift!
  6. where is it? I actually need some as it happens for the 10th to the 14th feb. Worst fekking time to be going there i know, but thats when my mate in shiz can get up there.
  7. jesus, are you joking? I have this terrifying vision of a sheer drop in my mind? Im glad i asked. I cant possibly go and see it. It would make me too sad. It was always the little dragon that needed slaying in the back of my mind. :'( Ill just pretend you never told me, and hopefully the memory of this thread will disappear and ill be left with that image of a 75 degree cliff drop. PS. Weird how that works.
  8. Two years ago i got my little linking turns wings on that resort. First place outside of the one day on yeti that i ever snowboarded. For that reason it has a special little place in me heart. I remember looking up at my first run and thinking "after 2 days, i think ill have a go at that! Now wheres the green runs?" only to realise that was the green run Anyways, this thread has a point. And its not the whole "what resort broke your linking turn virginity" though thats an excellent, if albeit generic idea for a thread. Nope, its this. I remember there being a steep that i lite

  10. the question is though if youre on a bit of a budget, dont live in the area and need somewhere to stay, can the area hold my massive frame! Id love to head there for those very reasons, but it just seems like it doesnt have the access that niseko has. Is there an area attached to it with little cheap pensions with 15 to 20 minute shuttle busses? Ill happy do that if its needed.
  11. Coming over from korea for three weeks at the start of february. I was thinking of spending 4-6 days at rustsu, maybe a couple of days at asahidake, and the rest of the time at niseko? Sound like a plan, or am i doing it wrong? Was looking for some fun powder tree riding for intermediate to advanced intermediate style stuff by the end of it. Also, are there nice cheap pensions in rusutsu, just checked the website and it sounds like theres only a 5 star bleeding hotel! Theres stuff right? Its not barren or anything. Also, asahidake might be out of the way a bit, ill be public tr
  12. right now its a 157 artec 2.3 (2006). Grabbed that last year at nagano sports for about 20,000 yens innit. But this year got a capita sierrascope (capita Indoor survival FK base and flex with horrorscope shape/graphic, and green machine core). By the start of next year im for sure getting me a bataleon - probably an evil twin or an airobic (depending if i go jib or all round park), and probably a nice powder stick. Probably going never summer for vario so it doesnt feel naff if the powder isnt there Probably a titan. Ill wait for teh sales and see whats available

  14. My mate has a book that lists the 100 things you should see in the world before you die. The snow sculptures were (i believe) number 6 or number 8. Ridiculously high. If you happen to be there anyway and have three weeks to kill, youd honestly be daft to not spend a night enjoying them. Not to sound too much like a hippy, but part of the fun of snowboarding around the world is that you get to see some astonishing things in your trip, and they arent all related to half pipes Take a break and soak it in. Youll kick yourself when youre in your 60s if you dont.

For beginners theres this massive long straight slope. Its really wide and open and you can see literally from the top all the way down. I learned taking a beginner down suginohara th
  16. no drivers license. Not going to happen for me! Would definitely be top of my hit list though if i did. Could be hysterically funny

I suppose since you lived here(?) then you would know a little about travel times. Hyperdia helps with that. Anyway, I'm interested in hearing how the trip goes so don't forget to make a trip report here! Actually thats a good idea, but im frankly the wor

  19. gimme some names! Furthest north i ever went in my four years in japan was saitama (that pretty much put me off going north for life). I know the nagano district fairly well, but was really looking for more ideas. Which resorts specifically in tohoku would blow me away. Id be happy to cut down the nagano side if it meant something a bit different
  20. And you had a JR rail pass that would take you anywhere, what would you do for that month? 31 days on niseko? Or just spread it around a bit? Im asking for selfish reasons, but i dont want my selfish reasons to dictate the scope of this thread so indulge yourself. Where you going and if you can, why? Im personally thinking few days at hakuba, then pop to myoko for 2 days. Maybe sit around nozawa for a day or two, then head to tokyo/hamamatsu for a few days to see friends. After that nip up to zoa for three days, and then spend some time (6 or so days) in hokkaido before coming back
  21. Last day of the season last year for me. (Second year on the slopes and started getting some real confidence ). It was semi white out conditions on myoko playing on their little cross course with a few friends at the top of suginohara. Was around mid march so snow was really slow and wet. Figured "what the hey!" let my foot off the brake and went flying down it. Was loving it, then hit the four little mounds towards the end of it. Came into the first one not so fast, came out at a decent speed. Hit the second one, and suddenly started feeling the pace, hit the third one, took off and rea
  22. Im probably about to move to the south of korea (near Gwangju) some time next month. I was thinking of spending my weekends in and around Muju. Anyone got any better recommendations? Also, anything like rakuten or yahoo auctions? Finally, are there any gelende maps anywhere. Only one ive seen so far is for muju. As far as other places go, High 1 looks like it could be fun, sorta, but the place does have a bit of a conveyor belt look to it. And pyeongchang got kinda slated for being pretty much ice the last two years as far as ive learned? Am i missing anything? Starting to get the itc
