Fujiwara is just over 20km from the Minakami IC exit of the Kanetsu Expressway.
From the Minakami IC exit, turn left onto Route 291 and then turn left at the first traffic lights (1.3km) to continue on Route 291 for about 6km. At the Oana traffic lights, turn right onto Prefecture Road 63 (also known as the Okutone-Yukemuri Highway). Go past Okutone Snow Park on the right, and soon after, you will arrive at some traffic lights. Either turn left (if you are equipped and used to winter snow roads) or continue straight on. Go past the turn-off and signposts for Minakami Hodaigi. The turn-off from Prefecture Road 63 for Minakami Kogen Fujiwara is about 3.5km farther than the turn-off for Minakami Hodaigi. Turn right at the signs and then again to head up to the base.
