Minakami Kogen Ski Resort is a ski area located to the north of central Minakami Town in the northern region of Gunma Prefecture.
It is the most northerly of the ski areas in Gunma Prefecture.
The ski area has one 1,047m quad lift and three pair lifts (544m, 648m, 427m). The third pair lift is located on the other side of the base hotel than the others. It offers a variety of children-based areas and activities, including snow rafting, various snow mobile experiences, snow shoe activities, cross country skiing and dog sledding.
When it opened in 1986, this ski area was known as Minakami Kogen. The name was officially changed to Minakami Kogen Ski Resort in 2008.

Normal season dates
Minakami Kogen Ski Resort usually plans to be open from mid-December until early April. See below for the actual opening and closing dates in recent seasons.
Normal opening times
Minakami Kogen Ski Resort is normally open as follows:
On weekdays from 8:30am until 4:30pm
On Saturdays & long holidays from 8:00am until 5:00pm
On Sundays and national holidays from 8:00am until 4:30pm
Night skiing
There is no night skiing at Minakami Kogen Ski Resort.
Items & ungroomed runs
There are various items and slalom courses on the slopes, generally suitable for young children. According the official website, about 25% of the runs are left ungroomed.
Families & children
There is a Kids Park area Entry is 1,500 yen for one day for most of the season (6750 yen in early and late season). A Snow Playing Passport is usually available in the main season which allows access to the Kids Park as well as various snow activities and also access to the Number 3 pair lift.
Lessons
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Minakami Kogen Ski Resort.
Rental

Introduction to the region
Gunma Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of the Kanto region on the main island of Honshu. It is one of eight landlocked prefectures in Japan. Gunma is surrounded by Niigata Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture to the north, Nagano Prefecture to the west, Tochigi Prefecture to the east, and Saitama Prefecture to the south.
The ski areas of Gunma are largely found in the northern region (Minakami Town, Kawaba Village and Katashina Village) and the western region (Kusatsu Town and Tsumagoi Village).
Minakami Town is the most northerly town in Gunma, with Yuzawa Town in Niigata Prefecture to the north, separated by the Tanigawa mountain range. Minakami is a popular year-round destination offering a wide range of outdoor sports, activities and onsen hot springs.
