Okutone Snow Park is a ski area located to the north of central Minakami Town in the northern region of Gunma Prefecture.
This ski area opened in 1972 as Okutone Kokusai. It has been known as Okutone Snow Park since 2007.
There are seven ski lifts - six pairs (440m, 494m, 501m, 810m, 509m, 509m) and one single (810m). The newest lift is the top 810m pair lift and a tree run course from the summit (Kumaotoshi) opened for the 2022-2023 season. In recent years, additional snow-making machines have also been installed to assist nature if and when required.
The ski area offers night skiing until 10:00pm on weekdays and until midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before holidays. It also opens from 6:00am on weekends and holidays for all those early risers!

Normal season dates
Okutone Snow Park usually plans to be open from mid-December until late March or early April. See below for the actual opening and closing dates in recent seasons.
Normal opening times
Okutone Snow Park is normally open from 8:00am until 4:00pm during the daytime.
Night skiing
Night skiing is scheduled from Friday 26th December 2025 until Sunday 15th March 2026, from 4:00pm until 10:00pm.
Park & ungroomed runs
There are two park areas featuring a variety of items, and also a mogul area. There is a tree run course and ungroomed snow area in the upper section.
Families & children
The Kids Gelende area is in front of the Rest House building, by the Number 2 lifts.
Lessons
Ski and snowboard lessons are available at Okutone Snow Park.
Rental
Ski and snowboard equipment & wear rental is available from the base Gate House building. The building also has a shop, cafe, locker room and baby room.

Introduction to the region
Gunma Prefecture is located in the northwestern part of the Kanto region on the main island of Honshu. It is one of eight landlocked prefectures in Japan. Gunma is surrounded by Niigata Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture to the north, Nagano Prefecture to the west, Tochigi Prefecture to the east, and Saitama Prefecture to the south.
The ski areas of Gunma are largely found in the northern region (Minakami Town, Kawaba Village and Katashina Village) and the western region (Kusatsu Town and Tsumagoi Village).
Minakami Town is the most northerly town in Gunma, with Yuzawa Town in Niigata Prefecture to the north, separated by the Tanigawa mountain range. Minakami is a popular year-round destination offering a wide range of outdoor sports, activities and onsen hot springs.
