By train and public transport

The closest train station to the Bandai Area base is Bandai Machi Station (7km) on the Banetsu Saisen line. Aizu Wakamatsu Station on the same line is just over 17km from the ski area.


Koriyama Station is the closest stop on the Tohoku Shinkansen and is about 55km from Alts Bandai.


Various bus services to Nekoma Mountain are available.


A bus operates between Koriyama Station and the South Area. The journey takes about 70 minutes and there are normally four services daily. Reservations are required. 1,500 yen per adult; 750 yen per child.


A bus operates between Aizu Wakamatsu Station and the South Area. The journey takes about 45 minutes. Reservations are required. 1,000 yen per adult; 500 yen per child.


A free bus also operates around the Urabandai Area, and that includes the North Area of the ski area.

By road

The Bandai Area (previously known as Alts Bandai) is just under 11km from the Bandai Kawahigashi IC exit of the Banetsu Expressway.


From the Bandai Kawahigashi IC exit, turn left onto Prefecture Road 64 for just over 1km to a set of traffic lights. Turn right onto Prefecture Road 7 and then continue for 2km until the turn off for the Gold Line road (Prefecture Road 64). Turn left and continue for just over 2km and take the road to the right to head up to Alts Bandai base. Note that the Gold Line toll road is not open in the winter months and so it is not possible to get to the ski area using that road.


Free parking is available at various car parks by the Bandai Area base. (The South A car park costs 1,000 yen per day on weekends and holidays, though it is free after 2pm).


On weekends and holidays a free shuttle bus is available from Car Park B to the ski area base.
